kicking butt, having fun

21 Aug

Phew. What a busy day. After a five and fifteen minute shift at work, (yeah, I know) I went with my mom to help host a baby shower for a family friend. (Pictures can be found at my Facebook account.) It was a lot of fun, but mom and I are both exhausted, especially mom. She spent all day today cooking and she’s pretty wiped. It was worth it, though. The shower was a lot of fun and made our friends extremely happy. For me, it was the first baby shower I’d ever attended, and I was happy that I got to help prepare some of the gifts and food. The place the shower was hosted at was quite nice, too. The room we were in was very comfortable (they had great plush carpet– I walked around barefoot most of the time) They also have yoga classes, which I found interesting. Too bad they’re so far away from where I live, otherwise I’d think about signing up.

In other good news, my laptop shipped today!!! =D I am so excited. I’m still busily getting my room ready for the new addition, making space for it and clearing away some of the clutter that’s going to get in my way. (it ocurred to me a few days ago that there wasn’ t much point in having a shiny new laptop if I didn’t even have anywhere to put it) I can. Not. WAIT. Every morning I wake up and think how awesome it’s going to be to have my own laptop that I can take anywhere. First stop: Starbucks, where I can hop on their free wi-fi and show off my workplace to the world at large via webcam. Of course traveling becomes a lot more fun with a laptop, and I’ll finally be able to play all those video games I’ve been lusting after for years! Squee. Not to mention I never have to come down into this cold, uncomfortable basement ever again if I don’t want to. My writing productivity will increase and I’ll generally be a happier person. (btw, all episodes of Dreamfall have been put on hold until I get said laptop. Not only do I need a small hiatus for my creative batteries, I just don’t see the point of continuing to write in this horrible “den” when something better is right around the corner) Did I mention I’m excited? Oh yes.

My friend Princess has officially upgraded to cashier. I saw him tonight when I stopped in at Starbucks to grab a green tea for my mom. He looks so cute in his little vest. XD We get to cause some trouble on Saturday when we’ll be working similar shifts, though it will be odd not to have him as a bagger, chattering away at the end of my lane like he’s been doing for the past two or three months. Still, though, I can call him up and bother him every now and then, or just shout produce codes at him. Mwahahaha! It’s going to be lots of fun. I’m really glad I met him.

Unfortunately I have to work all day tomorrow, which means I’d probably better start heading for bed. I’ve got just enough time for some yoga and maybe a quick snack before hitting the hay. Tomorrow should be fun, though. If nothing else, it’s pay day, and I get to go grocery shopping after work, which normally isn’t interesting but I’m trying some new things with my diet, and some new recipes which look like they’re going to be really fun and tasty. I can’t wait to try them. ^_^ August is going good so far!
