Go horsey, go

04 Oct

Damn. It’s been almost a month since I’ve updated this. Sorry. Not much has been happening, though, just the usual day to day stuff that’s interesting only to me. I have started writing again, though. Dreamfall is pretty much dead for the moment, so don’t expect anything new with that, but I am working on something else I’d like to keep under wraps for awhile. Dreamfall was an experiment that didn’t really fail, as such, but it wasn’t like I’d thought it would be. If I ever do that again I’m definitely going to try using a story that’s less complex and lends itself to shorter episodes. Trying to crank out a 3,000+ word story every week when I don’t have a firm grip on what my overall plot is was stupid, and worked out about as well as you’d expect. But my hiatus has been useful and I think I’m finally ready to start up again.

Lately I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather, unfortunately. Nothing virus related, just sort of a sense of general exhaustion and a sort of lingering nausea that makes the idea of cooking and eating food sort of unappealing. I think I know now what’s been causing some of my problems, but unfortunately I also suspect my job of being a culprit. I have to admit, I’m growing a little restless there. I’ve come to terms with a lot of aspects of my work, but eventually job fatigue does set in and I think I’ve reached that point. I’m getting very bored and now that most of my friends have left, it’s even worse than it was before. Thankfully, my vacation is coming up. Only seven days and counting. :) What I really need is a vehicle, so I can learn how to drive and start working the hours I really want, instead of working what my mom works so we can do the whole carpooling thing. A place of my own would also be nice…but I have to make a few other things happen before I can swing that. I’ve got a couple of plans in the works, but of course only time will tell.

Meanwhile, my new obsessions include multi-colored pens, cool hoodies, scrobbling music from my iPod, Genius playlists, Facebook’s English (Pirate) setting, Feasting on Waves, the Heroes soundtrack and, last but not least: Steam. A friend from work got me into it and now I’m completely hooked. An embarassingly large part of my weekly paycheck goes into Steam to buy shiny new games that download straight into my computer, games I don’t have to wait almost two weeks to get. This makes me very happy and kind of poor, which I suppose isn’t a terrible combination. Anyway, I love it, and you can’t talk me out of it no matter how hard you try. My only wish is that its games were slightly cheaper so I didn’t have to wait over a week for my copy of Orange Box to ship from Amazon. Sigh. Patience is a virtue, Amanda…if I keep telling myself that maybe it’ll start being true…

Sadly, I don’t have this lovely Saturday to myself. In fact it’s nearly time for me to start getting ready for work. I’m scheduled 4:30pm to 10:00pm today, which is the latest shift I’ve ever worked on a Saturday. I don’t mind. I’ll get to see my friends for awhile and weekends are always a lot more fun for me than weekdays when it comes to work. Probably because the world goes completely insane on weekends. :) Well. Insane-er. If that’s a word. Which it isn’t. But this is the Internet–who the hell cares?

Bye now.
