Amanda “Queen of the Wiki” Cales was born on August 2nd, 1988, and is currently a resident of Knoxville, Tennessee. Sometimes known as Mandaray or Gwenna, Amanda lives with a couple of people who insist they are genetically related to her. She doesn’t believe them, since she is clearly made entirely of Awesome.
Amanda has been an aspiring writer since the tender age of 8, when she discovered what great fun it was to type phrases from her favorite Lion King book into the family computer. Thankfully her mother was present to turn her away from a path of plagiarism, instead suggesting that Amanda write her own original stories into the computer. While writing her own stories has been a bit of a hit and miss journey, writing snarky and occasionally insightful blog posts has become one of her favorite hobbies. She started NOTE TO SELF some years ago as a way to keep her thoughts together, and things sort of blossomed from there.
Recently Amanda has vowed to get back on the writing horse (which is about as uncomfortable for her as it sounds) and put to rest some of the plethora of stories she’s had running around in her head over the past 24 years. She plans on publishing sample chapters of these books on her blog some day soon, so stay tuned.
In the early summer of 2007, a certain brilliant nutcase named Justin Macumber started the Dead Robots’ Society, a podcast by writers, for writers, thrusting Amanda into the bright shiny world of being a podcast host. While she is no longer with the show, she loved being a part of it and welcomes anyone who’s found her because of it. She keeps in contact with her fellow Dead Robots, and wishes them all the best. Any mention of “brown dragons” still sends her into fits of hysterical laughter.
When she’s not obsessing over her blog’s view count, Amanda pursues her other hobbies of cooking, teaching herself how to sew, watching Doctor Who, drinking far too much green tea, pwning noobs in the League of Legends, listening to awesome music, wrangling gibbons, making out with her fantastic boyfriend, watching British people do silly things, exercising, downloading obscene amounts of free Kindle books, teaching herself video editing, and attempting to achieve YouTube stardom by starting up her own channel.
She would probably love you forever if you watched her Own3d stream, subscribed to her YouTube channel, or just left her a nice comment on this blog from time to time. She also thoroughly enjoys discussions via Twitter, but asks that her Facebook account be left alone, since she only uses it to keep in touch with people she knows. Nothing personal.
